WISE Employment - Chinese Kiln Restoration
CLIENT
WISE Employment is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to empowering individuals through employment services, education, and training. Established in 1992, WISE operates across multiple Australian states and territories, providing support to job seekers, particularly those with disabilities or facing disadvantage.
Among its social enterprises, WISE Employment owns and operates Peppergreen Farm in Bendigo, Victoria. This two-hectare community-based destination serves as a commercial market garden and cafe, offering sustainable and supported employment opportunities for over 60 people with disabilities.
The Problem
Peppergreen Farm is a deeply loved community hub and social enterprise that grows good food, fosters inclusion, and holds rich layers of Bendigo’s multicultural and First Nations heritage. Yet despite its values, its stories, and its historical significance—including one of the only Chinese kilns outside of China—it remains under-visited and under-leveraged.
The Solution
The team at WISE had a solid plan for engaging significant community stakeholders through a well planned engagement event at Peppergreen Farm and they came to us with the question - how do we leverage this opportunity using video? The solution we developed was a video version of the stakeholder engagement event that captured the story and the opportunity that exists to restore Kiln and create yet another tourism site of International significance.
The video we produced also lays the foundation for future storytelling through a potential docu-series about the restoration of the Kiln site.
